After taking the first two games last week in Kuala Lumpar, the current world ranked number one tennis player, Roger Federer, lost both sets to the former world number one retired, Pete Sampras at Macau’s Venetian resort-hotel, defeating the Swiss Federer in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4.
Sampras explained after the event that he came to Asia hoping to be competitive and to be able to take a set off Federer. He went on to predict that Federer, 12-time Grand Slam champion, will beat his record of 14.
Sampras, 36, held the top ranking for a record 286 weeks in total and finished as world number one for a record six consecutive years.
