That followed singles victories by US No. 1 Andy Roddick and James Blake on Friday, when Roddick beat Dmitry Tursunov 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 and Blake’s victory over Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 7-6 (7/4), 6-7 (3/7), 7-6 (7/3).

The USA team was captained by the John McEnroe’s youngest brother, Patrick McEnroe.
